DomainsThere are three generally accepted educational domains. These pages take a broad view of the psychomotor domain, transforming it into the "skills" domain. Writing a book review is a skill. Therefore, objectives and evaluations of it would be in the skills or psychomotor domain. The thinking behind the review is cognitive domain work. The level of commitment to the conclusions expressed in the review is measured in the affective domain. 1. Psychomotor or skills -- Having to do with producing a product or performing a physical action. 2. Cognitive -- Having to do with retention, and processing of information. 3. Affective -- Having to do with adopting a new value or attitude. Some have listed "conation" as a replacement for the affective domain. But conation deals with motivation as distinct from values and attitudes. Still others have try to add "social" to the list of domains. |
